Overijssel host de EGTC Rhine-Alpine Assembly 2026
INTERNATIONAAL BEZOEK | Sinds 2026 is de provincie Overijssel lid van de EGTC Rhine-Alpine (voluit: European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Interregional Alliance for the Rhine-Alpine Corridor), een samenwerkingsorganisatie binnen de Europese Unie. De naam Rhine-Alpine verwijst naar een belangrijke Europese corridor die loopt van de havens in Nederland en België, zoals Rotterdam, via Duitsland en Zwitserland naar Noord-Italië, bijvoorbeeld Genua. Binnen dit internationale samenwerkingsverband werken regio’s langs deze transportroute samen om infrastructuur en logistiek, zoals havens, spoor en goederenvervoer, beter op elkaar af te stemmen.
Op 16 april 2026 is gedeputeerde Erwin Hoogland verkozen tot vicevoorzitter van het managing committee. Als nieuw lid van de EGTC Rhine Alpine had Overijssel de eer om als gastheer de assembly te organiseren. Tijdens deze bijeenkomst hebben we het internationale gezelschap kennis laten maken met onze provincie. Zo maakten we een mooie tocht over de IJssel, een aftakking van de Rijn. We voerden van de ene Hanzestad Zwolle naar de andere Kampen. We hebben inzicht kunnen gegeven in ons programma Nationale veiligheid en defensie, inclusief military mobility om vervolgens hierover in gesprek met elkaar te gaan.

INTERNATIONAL VISIT | Since 2026, the Province of Overijssel has been a member of the EGTC Rhine-Alpine (European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Interregional Alliance for the Rhine-Alpine Corridor), a cooperation organization within the European Union. The name Rhine-Alpine refers to an important European corridor running from the ports in the Netherlands and Belgium, such as Rotterdam, via Germany and Switzerland to Northern Italy, for example Genoa. Within this international partnership, regions along this transport route work together to better align infrastructure and logistics, such as ports, railways, and freight transport.
On 16 April 2026, Deputy Erwin Hoogland was elected Vice-Chair of the Managing Committee. As a new member of the EGTC Rhine-Alpine, Overijssel had the honour of hosting the Assembly. During this meeting, we introduced our international guests to our province. We enjoyed a beautiful journey along the river IJssel, a tributary of the Rhine, travelling from one Hanseatic city, Zwolle, to another, Kampen. We also presented our programme on National Security and Defence, including military mobility, followed by an engaging discussion on these topics.
